Okay, a week later (almost) and I'm finally settled down enough to post again.
heh. Not that I'm completely unpacked, I still have a mountain of boxes to get through in my living room, still need to put my son's bed together, and get the rest of the clothes unpacked... weee!

I discovered the joys of being capped on Monday - 3rd grade at Canyon Ridge ES (NEISD) is capped. By a -single- student. So my son's the lucky kid that's been overflowed to Stone Oak ES and has a bus all to himself (basically). I'm so very thrilled. Not.

I spent the last 20 years in Maryland, and the last 26 on the east coast (and I'm not a whole lot older than that, although I AM in my 30s). I'm definitely enjoying the weather so far - gotta love talking to my wife and listening to her complain about it being 40 degrees in Delaware, while I'm sitting here in short sleeves and shorts 'cause it's pushing 80

I experimented on Tuesday and ran the commute, and it was surprisingly stress free - only about 30 minutes from the Elementary School. The drive home looks like it'll be a lot more painful, depending on when I can get out of there at the end of the day, but thems the breaks.

I appreciate the welcome, and I promise I'll try to be a good neighbor

Someone will probably move over the Christmas break, and your son will be back at the right school. With gas prices the way they are, I'm surprised they bus him at all. Oh wait, they have tons of money over there, thanks to all of us.

That's what I'm hoping, to be honest. At that point, my wife will be out here and she can fight with the school system. Of course, that's what I was told I should expect, and since we're first on the list, the odds -should- be pretty good that he'll be in Canyon Ridge sometime in the next couple months.

(not that Stone Oak is a bad school, I just want my children in the schools they're actually zoned for).
