What accounts for the rapid growth of New Braunfels in recent years? Does the City have sufficient infrastructure to handle the growth? Is the Ctiy expected to continue to grow at the current rate, if so, is there an upper limit to the number of people that could reasonably live there?

This is a contributing factor toward your first question.

Quote:
In the past decade, the Hispanic population of New Braunfels has grown by more than 60 percent, now comprising more than a third of the city's 59,000 residents.

...

Between 2000 and 2010, Comal County grew by nearly 40 percent — from 78,000 residents to more than 108,000, according to the U.S. Census.

I don't believe there will be a limit. Look what's happening to Gruene &
surrounding areas.

I fully expect the day to come where one could drive from SA to Austin totally on the bottom streets while having to stop at red lights without ever getting on an expressway.

The counties around Austin are among the fastest-growing in the entire state. New Braunfels is the county seat of Comal County, which is just 2 counties south of Austin. New Braunfels is a bedroom community for people who work in Austin and San Antonio and even San Marcos (in the next county north), but prefer to live in a smaller city.

Yes, because the freeways there are a parking lot! Here in SA not so much. ;-)

Ever since I was a teenager and interested in different neighborhoods I've always wanted to do that in California. Until then I will live vicariously through you.

The sidewalks in La. when I wanted to cross over to the other side
of the street ( not at the corner where you have the walk signals) . But before.
As soon as I stepped off the curve to cross...the cars would stop for me
to cross over. That really freaked me out. Being from San Antonio...I was
not used to that & I would wave at them to keep going... I'm used to waiting
until there is a chance for me to cross over. It happened several times &
maybe it's the law over there, or they are very polite .

One difference I can say from experience between driving Texas freeways vs California freeways.. In most of California on the freeways, use of turn signals is looked upon as a sign of weakness. Not so much so in Texas
