We are moving to San Antonio this summer and we need recommendations on areas to find a home in the 250k-350k range. Stonewall ranch?? Less than a 30 min commute and excellent schools! My husband will be commuting to the medical center area. We are also wondering the best catholic schools in the area as well. Thanks!

Trails at Herff Ranch in Boerne is an incredible environment with kids and one of the best elementary schools in the entire San Antonio metro area is in the neighborhood (Cibolo Creek Elementary). Lots of families with commuters to the Medical Center/USAA area. Homes are $200's to $300's, which is considered extremely affordable in Boerne. Depending on time of day, commute is 25-30 min typically and occasionally a little longer due to weather, accident, etc.

I can't help you with Catholic schools, unfortunately.

The area near Shavano Park and Castle Hills is where I would look. Those are zip codes 78249, 78230, 78231 and 78213. All public schools in that area are great. As far as Catholic schools I know Antonian is on West, but that's high school. I believe that St. Matthew's also has a school and they are just on the other side of 10 near the medical center on Wurzbach. Stonewall Ranch puts you right near some of the worst traffic in the city. While the traffic in the areas I recommended can be tough it's not nearly as bad as 1604 west of Bandera at rush hour.

FYI, Stonewall Ranch is on I-10 opposite the Dominion, not on 1604. Traffic to the Medical Center is manageable along 10 and not nearly as bad as on 1604. Still, my strong preference is for Boerne based on the unrivaled quality of life and schools among the best in the area (along with Alamo Heights).

I'm thinking Stevens Ranch. You think I would know the difference by now. Within my recommendations you might might not even have to get on the highway. And as your strong preference is for Boerne for those reasons I believe that the areas I mentioned are equally as great.

Stonewall Ranch or Sonoma Ranch would fit your criteria. Both areas have great public schools. Sorry, I have no info on Catholic schools.

Stonewall Ranch is really nice! Some of our friends and family lives there. Traffic could be worse and the schools are good. Our community is in almost the same area ( but over your budget ). We looked all over the place before we moved to SA, cause great schools and safety was our priority. I'm very happy with the decision we've made. Boerne was too long of a commute in our opinion.

Thank you so much for all the replies! I am off to a good start! @Ashbeeigh, the zip codes you provided were excellent and found many houses that fit our needs. We are not able to visit and look at houses until July, but I am already excited about the ones I see. Almost all of them have the status Active Option, so the market must be pretty good! We are excited for our move!

Keep the replies coming!
