No axe to grind, but lets face it SA forum has gone from the #1 rated on this site to the least viewed, discussed.

Sad, it can and SHOULD be #1, even if it is good, open debate that make it so.....

Trust me, this place us to be SOOOO active, now probably one of the LEAST read/discussed.

Just because I do not cruise around with my dashcam discussing all my near misses does not make you right or me wrong....or the other way around!!!!

Who cares if it's #1 or #100? It's just an internet site. That's all. if it goes away, life will continue. Many come here to argue and bicker. I only look at it once or twice a day...sometimes don't look at it. Others are on here constantly. Different strokes.

Why? Valid points were made. I've never been afraid of work, nor too good to do any given job. Perhaps it wasn't one I "enjoyed" - but I did it. Nowadays, everyone wants to start at CEO salaries with no effort/skills on their part. They enjoy being the "victim". Me, I was taught to dust myself off and move on. THAT is what the "everyone deserves a trophy" mindset has gotten us - an entire generation of self-serving, amoral people that thinks anything they don't lie should be outlawed.

The difference was pride (willing to work doing anything) vs demanding that it is someone elses position I am in this place in my life right now generation we have cultivated in just 3-4 generations.

Back in the day, those in need were grateful, willing to do what was reqired, and made things happen. Now so many whine they can not afford eduction (SKILLS SOMETIMES PAY WAY BETTER THAN EDUCATION IF YOU MANAGE TO SEARCH AND FIND YOURS), and the entire "I am a victim and the world is against me, vs those that still see this as the land of "if you are willing to work for it, EVERYONE can find some talent, gift, skill that can better your life and you can pass to your kids as generations before us did.

I am truly offended that so very many generations of my family personally fought and risked their lives against communism and socialism only to find our off spring wanting to VOTE it in!!!!! Carl Marks MIGHT have had a great idea in theory, but history has proven it a TOTAL bust.

How many people have "refugeed" to Cuba/the USSR/ and other communist state run venues????? Yet, how many have risked their lives to escape that way of life for a better live for their families vs the opposite??????
Communism is a form of government. Socialism is an economic system. I don't recall the U.S. ever wanting to go to war with the democratic nations in Europe just because they're socialist.

My current field, substance abuse counseling, is very much needed and is a fast-growing field. When I couldn't find an internship in San Antonio, I looked elsewhere. So, don't let anyone discourage you by telling you that you don't have needed skills just because there aren't many jobs in your field here. Different areas have different markets. SA does need substance abuse counselors; they just don't have many places willing to train enough people to satisfy the demand.

Thanks to all that have left reps and words of support. If it is SA or anywhere, it is important that you look INTERNALLY to be happy vs asking those around you to MAKE you happy. Love SA, wish the board was as cohesive has it once was too, but it is not, so live moves forward.

To answer questions asked, the last SA CDF we had was in 2013.....so I seriously doubt it will be that cohesive that again.

Those of us that tried to make it that way were considered "threats". But we had fun.
'
Just to display how few are left, HOW MANY attended the Bigz Burger joint going away ( AND YOU WOULD REMEMBER WHO IT WAS FOR) in 2013??? I know of 2 (maybe 2 of us) that even come here anymore......

I certainly agree with you that this board has died down a lot over the past few years. There are many posters I realized that no longer come here since I joined CD in 2007.

I can't say I miss all of them but I do miss the presence of some of them even if I didn't agree with them on everything they posted.

Paka, I know you and I have had our disagreements over the past few years but I can say you have been one of the most engaging local posters on here who have added a lot of value to discussions.

There are some posters on here who probably hate me because I don't just lay back and take the sarcasm they dish out towards me and other posters as well. I was never on here to make IRL friends though. I don't use the Internet for that.

We have had our differences, but agreed on a lot too. I REALLY use to love the fact so many of us got together about once a quarter, at some great place and enjoyed sharing great meals, good drink and getting to know each other. Keep up with a lot of them now, but this forum does not seem to want to "nurture" that kind of relationship anymore as it has evolved with those that have joined, so we still get together on the side, but you are right, LOTS of loss of great info for those joining in our interest unfortunately.

One of the Mods use to tell me this was the highest rated forum, everyone seemed to get into "sharing info" even when we had points we disagreed on, but that has not been here for a long, long time.

Sad really. I was not looking for IRL friends either, but happened across MANY that I still consider great friends, (and WE don't agree on everything either!) Unfortunately, too many want to make it a moan fest vs hey, whats new and going on and what have YOU found that you want to share with the rest of us and what is going on next weekend that most of us can scope out to enjoy.

Sorry to hear that some of you feel that way about the forum.
I wouldn’t know how it was before in the past since I joined in 2011.
But I believe it still has a great variety of topics & subjects.

My guess is that what will run people off is turning what is supposed to be a fun joke into an argument just because you're easily offended by anything that can be construed as negative about your city. It is not that serious. It's not like someone is insulting your mama. Some of the members here constantly attack anyone, even going as far as violating TOS, just because they had the audacity to express a negative opinion about their experiences in the city.

[Mod cut: you got your way, but can't discuss it here]

I joined in 2010 when this sub-forum was still very active. There are two reasons why I don't post here as much:

1. I now live 45 minutes away.

2. There aren't very many interesting discussions here because a small group of people bully those who even so much as suggest possible areas in which the city can improve.

It's just a stupid joke. Relax. If it doesn't apply to you, you shouldn't be offended.
