Had lunch at Perry's @ La Cantara yesterday. Had the pork special. Delicious. Will definitely be back.

Yes, it was mediocre, but it was one of the very few places in town for Southwestern food versus what we have far too much of already, Mexican.

Would love to see a Bobby Flay-esque chef open a winning SW cuisine spot. I get to Santa Fe once or twice a year and desperately miss their brand of food... It's amazing.

Not surprised at all by z-tejas. I knew that place wouldn't make it here in this market. San Antonio is "to Mexican" for what a place like that offered and for those prices.

Canyon cafe is still a great choice.

Z Tejas didn't make because the food was average and wait staff was atrocious, but yes make this about Mexicans in San Antonio.

We tried the restaurant twice and both times it took 10 minutes to even be acknowledged.

Looks like Bayseas on Bandera Road in Leon Valley is gone. Went by there earlier this evening, a little less than an hour after what I think would have been their closing time, but all their signage is gone, and there were no cars parked immediately outside the restaurant.

Any chain restaurants (applebees, outback, Olive Gardens) opening in the next few weeks? I'm trying to get in at a place for thats hiring people and are able to train. I have no real experience in waiting/serving, but have worked in sales and in customer service for roughly 6-7 years, and I want to earn more than 7-10 an hour.

I read in the Express News some time ago also about Buffalo Wild Wings going in the old Marie Callender's. Also, the In and Out Burger is going in where the old Frost bank used to be.I think they have started tearing it down. This is a definete. Also, they are supposed to build something else on that land as well,it will also be another restaurant but the business section didn't say what it will be.It will be next to In and Out Burger,so not another burger joint.

Thanks for the info. I live right behind there and pass it everyday. The demo on the frost bldg is under way now. At first looked like it would take a year to tear down; then in a couple days half the bldg is gone. I know the in and out would be there but didn't know something else was going there as well. thanks for the info.

Try the Yard House in La Cantera, it is a Darden Restaurant and is a big operation with a lot of employees. A friend of mine recently hired on there.
Also I happen to know that the Egg & I is opening a couple of new locations in and around San Antonio, so if you like early hours and being off in the evening then give them a try (they're open for breakfast and lunch only).
