I can't imagine that a satellite store front is going to be better than the original. You understand the place is under new management as the owner retired and left it for her son to run. And he's running it into the ground at the speed of light.
Sorry to say, but our "fav" the original Tip Top has changed and not worth the drive anymore, and I HAVE tried the new location and it too is not worth the effort. Oh well, great MEMORIES at least! Sad, I don't know/understand their "need for change" but those of us that knew the place ""back in the day" are probably NOT their current customers.....

One of the few (if not only place) places you can order CFS, mashed 'tators and all while having your 9mm by your side openly.
Perhaps, but not worth the drive anymore in my humble opinion.....What a sad, sad, change! WHATEVER created their change after years and years of consistently providing awesome food, either change it or sink to the bottom and fail.

I felt the same way when Earl Abels closed the original location and opened a new location. It just was not the same. Now that ugly condo tower sits where Earl Abels used to be.

YEP, Tip Top and Earl's changed in a negative way. Does anyone even live in that stupid tower? I can see high rise condos in some vibrant downtown like Austin or London. What's the attraction of that corner? Can't stroll to the theater or 6th Street.

Open carry - in Tip Top - yawn. I ate in a ramen place today with no signs. Liked it. The one on Babcock north of Prue.

70% sold. David Robinson saw something in the building and location to sell his newly built home in Shavano Park to move there.

Dave must be attracted to Central Market to make a late night cheese run. Or he got a speeding ticket in Shavano.

If you look at the views and amenities of the place you would be impressed. High-rise condo living is not for everyone though.

I still stand by my opinion of that tower, ugly. What was there before was a San Antonio icon.

I agree with GEM that it is an awkward spot for a high rise too. Not exactly urban.

It was a restaurant. It wasn't iconic. Just stop.
