I was told by a TB employee that the company was recently sold. Also if you notice the $.79 Sunday tacos have gone away as well.

If he is talking about the local franchisee, that could be. But the parent company of Taco Bell is YUM! Enterprises, which is a publicly traded company (i.e., owned by shareholders). I couldn't turn up any evidence that YUM! sold off Taco Bell.

She didn't elaborate as to whom it was sold to...could be a new franchisee. A lot of their "specials" have disappeared and prices have gone up.

Lupe Tortilla, a Tex-Mex chain, plans to open a $1 million restaurant at The Rim, with construction starting in April and lasting until October. The 7,000 square-foot restaurant will be the chain’s second in San Antonio, joining an existing location in the Stone Oak area.

Looks like the folks behind Starfish are changing the name and concept. Hearsay opening on 2/15 “We’re significantly dropping the prices of the food and wine to something more casual.” quote from SA Current article Goodbye Starfish, Hello Hearsay | Blogs | San Antonio Current

The local owner has sold to an Arizona based franchise. Since the transfer, the new owners have opened several new Taco Bells. There is also a second franchise operation in San Antonio. I don't know where they are from. They run the locations on Austin Highway, Bulverde Rd, FM 78, and another one I can't think of right now.

There is a plan to separate the brands in a couple years. No more multi units.

Moes is now open on Pat Booker, actually since last Thursday. We went this past weekend and while it was ok, it doesn't beat out Chipotle or Freebirds by a long shot .Does anyone know why they even closed the one down in Stone Oak years back? I wonder what made them come back into SA??

Never been to Moe's but I like both Freebirds and Chipotle so I am interested in trying out Moes now. Stone Oak is plagued with a lot of open and shut restaurants it seems. Probably high rents.
