So is reading cookbooks the same as watching cooking shows? You get incredibly hungry and you resist the urge to eat everything in the fridge?

I'm just kind of understanding what RD is saying though. Oh...I'm NOT bashing SA, just saying that I can see how adjusting to a new place...environment, if you will...is difficult!
Oh, I didn't think you were bashing. I imagine the change in climate is difficult. I know that I would have a hard time going from SA to Ohio. I hate cold weather!

My mom used to make it all the time and it's one of my favorites that I haven't had in about 25 years or so.
Why not try making one? You can even buy a ready made pie crust and make it even easier.

It makes me want to cook like a cooking show does.

Aww...me too carlita! I miss my mama so much! She and I used to do all types of things together. When I go shopping or see something cool, I think, oh..she would love this! We talk on the phone a few times a day most of the time! Here's hoping for a good move if you do have to move!

nah, I want one made for me, home made crust and all.. I have very few fond memories of my mom, but rhubarb pie is one and it was all made from scratch. I found a place in Kansas that makes them from scratch and will ship a 5.5 pound pie (no typo there) for $27. 5.5 pounds is a little bit more than I was looking for, but if worse comes to worse it's what I'm going to get.

How many do you have? I should count my bookshelf...I'm sure it's something like 100 or so!
