Best how? She isn't a meteorologist. Frankly, KSAT has more actual meteorologists than all the others combined and doesn't try to soft pedal a new reader as someone who has an in-depth knowledge of weather.

Maybe best looking? In reality it doesn't really matter if a TV weather person is a meteorologist. The weather is the weather, and it doesn't take a meteorologist to report it. But any way, the WOAI web page does say she is a meteorologist. Is that a false claim on their part?

It calls her a meteorologist, but she has a Bachelor's Degree in broadcast journalism...a liberal arts degree. I don't think she would know an isobar from a TowBar...oh wait, that's you!

Lots of stations do that same trick, but not KSAT. It isn't a crime, by any means, but is definitely unethical. Then again, we are talking about Sinclair Broadcasting, who is a pillar of ethics. /s

Wait...you mean the barely dressed weather girls on Telemundo are NOT trained meteorologists??

There is a reason why KSAT is #1 in this market and their commitment to weather is a big reason. It may get 'boring' here at times, but when you need to know about weather news, and what is actually happening, none of the other stations stand a chance.

I don’t care what city I’m in, if I don’t see that silly “AMS” symbol next to the weather person’s name I don’t take them nearly as seriously as I do people that are part of the American meteorological society. I’m wondering if like in some fields you have to have passed a test or something to call yirsekf a meteorologist.

To the best of my knowledge “meteorologist” is not a protected title under Texas law or for that matter any state I’ve lived in. In other words any TV weather person can call themselves a meteorologist legally though ethically I find it questionable.

That was the word I was looking for, “protected.” My profession is so I may Judy be applying my values to other positions.

Do you think a TV weather reporter, even if a weather scientist, is actually forecasting the weather?

They know the appropriate science and data to report a more accurate forecast. They aren't sticking their finger in the air and saying, "I think it's going to rain today."
