I figure in a city that is mostly Hispanic it would not be an issue.

Nah... just like there's no direct flights to San Diego.

Not an issue cause so many are here it seems to me and don't cause any harm. At least from what I see.

Latino there is one n/s to San Diego on Southwest that departs around 130pm every day I believe.

I was just being sarcastic with Monte since he travels to SA frequently.

The concerns surrounding illegal immigrants is a valid one. This surely has some impact (+/-) on the economy of the city. The ones I've met on my home's job site seem pretty friendly... but maybe that's because I have meals brought to them from time to time.

Let's just say that if INS ever started visiting new subdivisions on a regular basis, the speed of homes being built in SA would drop pretty sharply.

Red face Illegal Immigration

If ILLEGAL immigration is not an issue in San Antonio, why is it I heard that one of the local radio stations in SA announces to its listeners the locations of where Border Patrol Agents are sited? I am currently living in El Paso, which has the identical demographics of SA and illegal immigration is not an issue to those whose families benefit. I know that the El Paso County Jail is 78% occupied by illegals (according to Sheriff Sameniego). And the public services, hospitals, schools, etc. are also adversely affected by illegals. (El Paso taxes are obscenely high!!)

I want to return to San Antonio (born and went to school there; but been gone for 30 years) and do not want to return to the same environment I am currently experiencing here in El Paso where the community's identity is more Mexican than American. El Paso is monocultural. I am so sorry I missed the Lou Dobbs town hall meeting in San Antonio. I am a Lou Dobbs fan and heard that LULAC offered a HOSTILE (understatement) reception to Mr Dobbs.

I would be interested in hearing from people who are not Spanish speaking, moved to San Antonio and hearing what your experience was when looking for a job. I lived in Houston for 13 years and had no difficultly finding a job (college educated & not Spanish speaking). I could not find a job in El Paso when moving here after my spouse was transferred here; it took 3 YEARS to find my current position. I am VERY concerned about moving. Are my concerns founded?
