Did somebody change the name of this thread? I thought it was originally "The Wurst Thing" like German sausage. I might be wrong.

It was originally "wurst".

They ARE delicious. One of such stores was in NB a long time ago (90s?). None at the present time.
Mertz has German sausage on Thursday's. It is only one variation.

I tried them all and my favorite is the raw thin sausage formed to a spiral. Others are meh.
I wonder why those sausages (also in other places) are so bland. The staple seasoning is salt, pepper, occasionally garlic. But there are other spices used by Germans like juniper, marjoram, coriander, caraway seeds, paprika, nutmeg, ginger, mace etc...etc...
They are made way too fatty too.

Next weekend I might go to Beeville. I am a bit intrigued by the place.

Let me know how it is! I have lots of family there but haven't been back since Christmas.

Not sure how long you're going to be there... but there are a couple other restaurants that are really good. The Diner and Sammys (burger place).

How about Shilos Restaurant on Market street near Alamo downtown? There’s some German influence?
