I agree. I grew up in a meat and potatoes house. Sure, we would go out to eat more meat and potatoes and the occasional Chinese and Mexican food, but that was about it. It was not until I got out and about and met new friends who introduced me to more new and exciting foods. I am to the point where I will eat pretty much anything (so far), but I just have not acquired a taste for Eastern Indian food. Perhaps it was that first time at a really lousy buffet, but that did me in.

Yep...this is me, too. I like trying new foods, but sometimes it's best for me not to know exactly what it is until after I've eaten it and determined whether or not I like it!

You might have them watch this and rethink the whole "bottled water" issue. A bit long, but good food for thought. It brings up the garden hose concept, as well.

So do I! Garden hose water reminds me of when I was a kid and didn't want to interrupt playing just to go inside for a drink. *lol*

Oh yes...and the water still tastes the same...no matter where you are! Otherwise, the kids drink out of the tap...well, the water from the water dispenser in the fridge. We do keep bottled water in the car though for when we are really parched. Otherwise, that is it.

HAHA, our families have a lot in common.

As a hispanic, I find myself trying to break a lot of my parents bad habits.
White bread and tortillas, soda at every meal, red meat daily, SALT SALT SALT. I remember just naturally ordering Coke whenever we went out to eat. I can't believe how thin my parents are with this horrible diet. Good genes I guess. I just recently (last 3 or 4 years) began to realize how important it is to eat healthy.

Although I must say, even though the way my mother and grandmother prepared meals wasn't the healthiest (manteca/lard), I never ate McDonalds, Taco Bell, or Burger King until I was 18. We rarely ate fast food. It wasn't until college that I became fast food dependent. Now it's a tough habit to break.

I just wish "health food" was better priced. I also think that highschools and maybe middle school should put a greater emphasis on nutrition in health class or gym. It couldn't hurt.

I say it doesn't matter what you eat, AS LONG AS IT'S HOMEMADE and in MODERATION.

Yea I always drank out of the water hose, too. I went kayaking a few weeks ago and unknowingly left my water bOttle open, so everytime I tipped over in the water, the bottle would get filled with water from the river. I didn't know I was drinking water from the river the entire time until I got home--it tasted the same as the water bottle water that was in there before.

There's a risk in everytying you do, just do it in moderation--that means eating junk food, too.
