Hey all! Well we finally got here and moved back to SA. Unpacking and dealing with new grass. I have never dealt with new grass before - we have bermuda grass. Any suggestions? I am watering every other day for 1 hr at a time. Just not sure if that is enough. Also r you supposed to have a company out to spray for anything? Thanks all

How new is new? Just laid sod or established? (I'm not sure if you mean 'new to you' or just laid yesterday...)

We're about to hit water restrictions for all residents, which will limit your ability to water. However, if it's new sod you can get some OK by SAWS to water so it gets established. If it's already in, the watering once per week is sufficient. It may turn brown a bit but it'll come back. I believe the standard is 1" per week. I think for new it's every day for 2 weeks, and then you can cut back to once per week.

Try these website El Toro Zoysia, Tifsport Bermuda Grass, Bentgrass Sod | Sandhill Turf

Thanks for the info. The sod was laid 1 week ago - so yes very new. I thought I was suppose to water a lot with a new grass - just not sure how much?

Here's some info on the variance San Antonio Water System: Landscape Variance

and some more info on new turf watering San Antonio Water System: New Landscape Watering Schedule

FWIW - I laid a couple of squares of sod (not much, it was just a test) a couple of months ago and hardly watered it - was always by hand/bucket, every few days, so not much. It took really fast.
