"...San Antonio’s proud and insular South Side, a Hispanic area home to secondhand car dealers, light industry and pawnshops."

Good stuff.

Interesting article about our old mayor and his Lago Vista project.

For being a very liberal newspaper they really smacked Henry C. down....hard ! Seems like he had a big hand in this whole mortgage mess. For him to turn around and blame the banks and mortgage lenders is ludicrous to say the least !!!!!

A few other dirty little secrets:

- KB (& other builder/developers) OWNED the lenders who brokered the loans to banks (& FORCED the buyers to go through their lender).
- KB (& other builder/developers) paid realtors premiums to bring their clients to these new developments.
- KB (& other builder/developers) often owned the title companies who closed the loans & went over the legal paperwork with the clients.

KB & other builder developers (& there are probably several dozen in state & out of state HUGE builder/developer companies here in Texas) stood to make 10s of thousands of dollars on each sale. They had a HUGE vested interest (conflict of interest?) in each part of the transaction. But they did nothing illegal. Our politicians:

- allowed these incestous relationships to occur. AND THEY STILL EXIST!
- encouraged 100% lending (even though imo 15-20% of the amount of each home sold was "air" such as realtor commisions/upgrades/closing costs/& of course builder profit). AND THIS SITUATION STILL EXISTS.
- received large contributions from these builder/developers. THEY STILL DO.

IMO....The builder/developer & the realtors were just the drunks in the bar. And our elected representatives were the bartenders who kept serving them.

While everyone seems to be blaming "the banks" & the "homebuyers" for the 700 billion bailout.....let's not forget the DRUNKS & THE BARTENDERS.

People need to scream this because it's just going to get worse. Imagine a president, Congress, and Senate all making foolish decisions like this. It is almost upon us and could destroy the country.
