I had to go to Loop410 and Broadway today and tomorrow for a continuing ed class and I almost forgot about the closure! I went 1604 to 10 to 410 and it was no problem!

I give props to Leon Valley for making the right decision.

If San Antonio and the State widened 1604, 151, 10, 281, before giving out building permits, there would be no problem on Bandera Rd.

???! are you kidding me???
Bandera is a major road no matter how you slice it! 1604, 151, and 10 have nothing to do with it! Bandera is congested because alot of people live off that road (I know: I grew up right smack in the middle of it on Bandera and Guilbeu). Bandera Rd carrys freeway traffic without it being a freeway and the city had been trying to upgrade to a freeway since THE 1960'S but it's always been opposed by LV among others, and now look where it's put us.

If San Antonio and the State upgraded Bandera Rd./Hwy 16 before giving out building permits, then there would be no problem on Bandera Rd.

1. Bandera & 410 is in Leon Valley.
2. There already is a problem on Bandera through Leon Valley, so no problems are being "moved" there. If anything, this project will ease things somewhat on the inbound side south of Grissom.
3. Leon Valley would most certainly oppose/have opposed double-decking Bandera.

This is a common fallacy. Every city in the world has traffic congestion on their major thouroughfares. It's just a fact of life. If the state widened a road before the development came, people would complain about a big road "in the middle of nowhere". And what happened if the development never came? Then it would just be a waste of money. Plus, you really don't know what kind of improvements will be needed until you see what kind of traffic develops. Lastly-- and this is the most important point-- doing all of that would take gobs of money, and there are so many existing needs that need attending to with the limited resources available before we try to "futureproof".
