Has anyone been to Marfa? And seen the lights out there? I talked to someone today that had been there a few years ago and said it's really interesting. They still can't figure it out.

I know someone that went and said it wasn't worth the trip but then he was that kinda guy. I would love to see for myself.

I was totally nonplussed. It seriously looks like headlights off in the distance, from some other road. I would never waste my gas to go out there again.

My motto is "West Texas is not for humans and since I'm human I'll never set foot out there again even at gunpoint." or something like that.

Well dang. I'll just sleep in the camper out front and have my neighbor turn on the headlights and say I went. Will save a bunch of money on gas and still have a tailgate party.

Sorry....it just didn't do anything for me at all, and I was really jazzed about going and seeing it/them. Maybe YOU'LL like it! I just know Kerrville is as far west as I'll ever venture again, by car.....until the day I pack my stuff up and move to Morro Bay. Or they pack my ashes and send me that way, since that's where I'm getting scattered. Hopefully I can move there ALIVE and enjoy it for a while before that happens, though.

West Texas is one big giant sandbox with miles and miles of NOTHINGNESS. Doesn't do anything for me, but I know lots of people enjoy that.

The towns of Levelland or Brownfield or Needmore don't do anything for ya?

Nope, nor does Iraan, San Angelo, Alpine (ok, well sorta), ....shall I continue? And Midland-Odessa?

It's the first time in my life I saw a real tumbleweed. I thought they were only in cartoons.....

*Iraan.......looks like it should sound like Iran with a Southern drawl. How they get Ira Ann outta that is beyond me.

I like San Angelo. One of the few cities that has more roads than vehicles. I love a highway and roads that are just there, not clogged with vehicles. It's sorta odd to be alone on a 6-lane highway at 5:00 PM, but it's a nice odd.

Thanks for the warning Sapphire. I agree about the sandbox effect. We've taken many trips out there and that is the LONGEST drive in America.....or it seems. I'll go as far as Junction....it's really pretty out there. I just wanted to hear about anyone seeing the lights. But I'm with Campergirl...tailgate and headlights sounds like a better deal. Nothing like fresh coffee made on the campfire in the morning! You want time to freeze and really savor how awesome that time of day is when you're camping. The rest of it ...well, I'm a city girl. Room service sounds better at night lover looking some gorgeous beach...and maybe a little champaign......and.....more tailgating?
