there was also a piper cub that went down on Dresden Street on the northside. hit some high tension wires and flipped into a backyard. i have pics of that, but do not recall if anyone was injured.

Remember Krumms cycles on Bandera just inside the loop? He sold Ducati bikes. The Honda dealer was on Bandera and 410 among other places. Late sixties a 350 was a pretty big bike. I looked at bikes in the late seventies for transportation to work. The Yamaha dealer was in the old Top Value stamp redemption center on Fred road. There was a Honda dealer near there too. Remember Schoffer Bros. at Babcock and Fred road? It was a used cycle place. There was another Motorcycle place on Broadway (I think) north of 410. They sold Harley's. I looked at Suzuki but I don't remember where. Remember the Suzuki rotaries? How about the Mazdas? Gone but not forgotten

some of this has been discussed before, so i may touch on some of the same things. i played softball for about 30 years of my life. some of that time was spent playing league games and tournaments at Koger Stokes, which is across the street on san pedro from S.A.C. i didn't know much of the history of this piece of land. i knew the san pedro springs had been there for quite some time. during my research, i found that in 1892, a ball park was built on that corner. it was called Tech Field. it replaced a race track which had previously occupied the spot. the missions played here for about 10 years, until the new Mission Stadium was built off probandt and mitchell in the late 1940's. Tech Field existed until 1966 until it was converted to the softball fields you see there today. on another page, there was mention of the Electric Amusement Park. i never heard of it as well. but the location was where VIA bus terminal now sits on myrtle, between san pedro and north flores. the payaya indians dipped in the springs long before there was anything else in the area. it is also the oldest park in the state of texas.

here is the tech field photo.
