Anybody remember an English Fish and Chips place in the food court of North Star mall in the late 80's?

It was called Arthur Treachers? It later became a bourbon chicken place. Any way, I'm up here in DC and passed by one that was still open. It definitaly had an old school 70's & 80's vibe. Tastes just like Long John Silvers, though. Still kind of cool...

I don't know how widely read it was but for years there was a newspaper published in San Antonio called "THE ALAMO MESSENGER'. It was published by the Archdiocese of San Antonio--It was a Catholic newspaper. The thing I remember the most about it was they would rate movies A,B,and C. "C" was condemened and a mortal sin to see. You could go to hell for seeing a movie! "Never on Sunday" was a "C" movie. To this day I don't think I have ever seen it. "From Russia with Love" was a "B" movie which mean't that you had to get a priest to permit you to see it. One of the movie theatre's showed the first three Bond movies all together on a matinee. We couldn't wait for "From Russia with Love" to come on so we could see the dirty parts. It was not that great of a movie and we never saw anything "objectionable". It was many many years later that I learned that the "objectionable" part was that James Bond and Tanya boarded the train posing as a Married couple. I never caught that when I was a kid or even years later.

I think it was between the Chick-Fil-A on the end and The Great Steak Escape on the other. Beyond the Steak Escape was the food court version of La Madeline(?).

This may be a little off track with the rest of the thread, but... Did any of you go to the San Antonio Toros games? How about the Bulls, with former NFL'er Randy Johnson as QB? Did you go see the Wings, the Gunslingers, Riders, or Texans. We've had football here, and although not the NFL, the crowds used to get pretty rowdy at the Toros games. Just wonderin'... They're all gone, but what do you remember about them?

I think the most recent club at Central Park was called Park Place. There was also a club below Park Place; I seem to remeber the name as Country Down Under. Prior to Park Place/Country Down Under, there was a club there called Broad Street.

Thanks for the info. I also saw a posting mentioning Cowboy Country Club, but that may have been before the others. If anyone remembers seeing the doors I mentioned, I'd love to know more. Perhaps they're from Park Place or Country Down Under. Here's a photo, without the huge brass
