I'm in search of a clean, affordable apartment for a 9 month lease term. I work in the NW area of SA but really like the LaCantera and Huebner Oaks areas (great for shopping, etc). I prefer a gated community and an adult/no college kids rental. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm new to SA and just don't have a feel yet. I'm considering the new NW Alamo Ranch Apartment complex-appreciate the units are new/clean/affordable. Would really love to find something similar around Huebner Oaks or LaCantera. Any ideas???

I just moved into the Ventana apts a Huebner Oaks & Huebner. They are very clean except for the sidewalks. I already put in a maintenance request for this. My car was broken into on the 3rd night of living here, but that probably could have happened anywhere. I do notice that the security gate is frequently off of its track. There are not a lot of college kids around here, which is good. The loc is excellent.

Contact an apt. locator and give them all your specs. They work really hard to match you up...it's how they get paid. The service is free to you, but the apt. complexes pay them a commission if you sign a lease. Just google San Antonio Apartment Locator and you'll get several hits.

I am contemplating a move to SA. I have always been a city rather than a suburb dweller. I am single. I do not have a car, and I hope I do not have to buy one. I have always use public transportation. I am interested in renting in the Downtown area. ( a large one bed room apartment, or 2 bedrooms or loft). I presently live in an one bedroom apartment in a high rise building. I like the set up of a high rise. I will probably contact those apartment locating service if I do make a move. But my question is, can one do without a car in SA, and what is the pro and cons of living downtown? I do know that there is a thread about cars already, but I am interested in more specific information for someone living in the core downtown area. Thanks.

I have lived in SA all my life, never downtown; hopefully one day though. I think this would be a great place to live. The Brady Tower

Good luck to you!
