I moved there in 1986 through no fault of my own (I was 2).

My parents bought a cheap house in Home Gardens. They were escaping some sort of shootings in Santa Ana, and HG was an "easy" commute to Disneyland (my father worked there). Essentially, they traded one barrio for another.

I went on to graduate high school in the IE, work my first jobs in the IE, got my first apartment in the IE, and abruptly left in 2004. And haven't looked back.

I miss some things. The food. The familiarity. That's about it.

Cheap Housing, more space, yard, family friendly area. The weather is decent, summer is a bit warm but I am getting use to it. Winters are great, originally from western NY where its a high of 26 today and in the IE we will see 75. Love it

Absolutely not.

I abhor the IE's climate. I love waking up to snow (which the IE most people live in does not get).

We just had -17F the other night. I'd rather have that then any 90+F day in the IE. AINEC

Oh yeah! Same here, back in LA that is, if I didn't hear that, I felt out of place......lol, and here in Yucaipa, I think I'll scare the heck outta the neighbors......lol

We moved to the Coachella Valley from Los Angeles over 15 years ago. Moved here for the beauty, climate (not summer!), serenity, peace, golf, desert lifestyle, and lack of traffic. When the economy improves we plan to move out of our current home and purchase another home. The area we move to will be dependent on which office I'll be in three years from now. If I will be in Indio, we plan to stay in the desert, but in a different house. If outside of the desert, the plan is to move to the Hawarden Hills area of Riverside. Honestly, I'm hoping I'll be working outside of the desert because to me, Hawarden is preferable to everything in LA or OC, yet close enough for me to get to those areas quickly.

Was dragged kicking and screaming into it by some guy in a white coat. Took me 9 years to finally make my escape to the coast.

I want your fruit trees. If you send me one, I will make you some home made jam.
