Is there even any bad neighborhoods in Temecula or Murrieta that are not safe for walking around at night or something like that?

Well not that I'm aware of right now. Pretty much the whole area here is pretty safe. I'm seeing more undesirables moving to the area with the drop in house prices and more rentals being available. As for now there is nowhere I would be afraid to walk in at night.

Well, I think no matter where you are, walking around at night is less safe than walking around during the day....but it's been so far, so good for us in Temecula! As a former police officer, my husband is very cautious and aware of our surroundings and has been pleasantly surprised and pleased with this town. I think it's just too 'boring' and 'family oriented' for there to be too much going on at night. Fine by me! :-)

Thanks for the information .
I've actually been to Temecula before (summer 2006) when i was with EF language study and I actually felt the same way that it's a nice town with nice people and neighborhoods.
I even felt more comfortable there than in my real country

As of March 2009 I have not seen any bad neighborhoods. There may be a bad apartment complex or two, but if it exists I don't know about it!

When I lived in Murrieta about 5 years ago, there were no unsafe or "bad" areas. When my husband and I went driving around once actually looking for some, the only thing we could find was an area that were all apartments complexes next to eachothers and in some different fields next to them were trash, couches, and just ugly cars. But this was a street that you only turned on if you lived in one of the apartments, it was hidden, and noone would find it unless they went looking. It didn't seem unsafe, just people that didn't care. That was the only thing we ever found in that city.

Pujol street behind Old Town is a well known low-income neighborhood that has a history of crime problems. There has been a lot of redevelopment money spent and several state and federal dollars go into improving the quality of life in the neighborhood. How successful have these efforts been? I don't know - I don't go there. There is no reason for anyone to travel through the neighborhood unless they lived there.
