I'm considering buying a house in Corona, the house we've seen and liked a lot is located in south Corona near the Lee Lake (exit Indian Truck Trail). It's right next to the 15 Freeway. Although it's still in Corona but it's about 10 mins away from the 91 freeway.

My question is, how is the traffic in this area? I work in Diamond Bar and my work hours are from 9am-5:30pm.

A friend of mine is also looking for a house in north Corona (exit Liminite Ave), it's close to 60 and 91 freeway. He's also wondering about the samething.

Traffic is horrible down the 91/15. North Corona (Eastvale) might be a slightly better bet for Diamond Bar ... at least you have an option to take the 15/60 instead of the 15/91/71. The drawback is that it's on dairy land ... and you will smell it.

If you're looking at the newer properties, beware the CFD (Mello Roos) fees ... taxes + CFD + HOA can total over $800/month ... and that's a good chunk of money.

Could you give me an idea how long it takes to drive to Diamond Bar in the morning? (during weekdays)

Does it take as long to drive home in the evening?

According to maps.google.com, it will take you 40 minutes to an hour to do that commute from S. Corona depending on traffic.

From N. Corona, it will take 30-40 minutes.

Please, please listen to me. Do not move there and expect to be happy with the commute. The 91 from the 15-Toll Roads is one of the USAs undiscovered worst traffic jams

15 to the 91 to 71 looks like a good option but you will be stuck on the 15-91 transition for at least 10 Min.

15 to 60 is much better. Not sure about traffic from 60-DB though.

I go south on the 15 from the 10 just past the 91 and zero traffic at 6AM, however, the 91 is already locked up by then.

been there couple times during rush hours and seemed pretty bad around diamond bar or sgv area where near 60 and 57 connect sections but going more towards east less and less traffic not so sure about 15.

If you live in South Corona, you have to navigate the 91/15 interchange in the morning, and that is just horrid. Expect to sit in you lane moving at a snails pace for 45 minutes, perhaps longer if there is an accident. Once you are on the 91, you'll crawl through Corona until it opens up as you get closer to the 71 Freeway. Once you're on the 71, you're home free. All in all, I would allow 1 1/2 hours for the commute to DB from South Corona. I would suggest you try to take city streets to West Corona, and get onto the 91 well past the 15/91 interchange. You really will have to study maps and learn alternate routes, but anyway that you can avoid the interchange, the better! Good luck!

I am trying to purchase a home in south corona right now. There is more for your money down there and we like the rural feel. I have experimented with the routes to work and I think that you should just avoid the 91 - 15 interchange - it reminds me of the Orange crush down in Anaheim / Garden Grove area. I would take El Cerrito which turns into Foothill (I think) all the way to Lincoln - turn right and take Lincoln across to the other side of the freeway and then get on the 71 that way - Once you are on the 71 it's not that far to DB. It might take just as long - but it would be more predictable and probably less frustrating. Just a thought...

Living in South Corona, your commute will be made hellish by one ridiculous CalTrans mistake: The wholly inadequate NB 15 to WB 91 flyover transition. It's a 2 lane to 1 lane transition with a back up that impacts the entire NB 15 for miles... even when the WB 91 isn't busy. A couple of weeks ago, I sat in 5 to 10 mph (when it was moving at all) bumper-to-bumper traffic that stretched from the 15/91 interchange for 15 miles South into Elsinore... all because of that ridiculous transition. As soon as I passed that off ramp, traffic opened up to 80mph.

Beware.

please try the commute before you buy. we liked south corona alot but opted for eastvale because of the commute. you do not want to have to take the 15 to get to work. the 91 isnt much better. though going into work is always easier than coming home. we work in irvine, about 30 miles from eastvale, and we take the 71 to the 91 to the tolls. the tollroads are pricey, but low stress and an easy drive. and you will spend less time in your car and more time in your house!
