I am thinking about buying a rental condo in San Diego - that is, a condo that I can rent out. I really want to buy a vacation rental, but they seem to be too expensive and might be often vacant. So in which area would I have no trouble renting out? Near the universities? Downtown? Ideally I would want to be able to stay there 2 months out of the year so I was thinking of college professors on sabbatical who might want to leave during Xmas, but that is probably wishful thinking. Anyone with ideas? Thanks!

What's your purchase budget for the condo?

I have never had my condo empy for more than 3 weeks. My unit is in north Oceanside near Camp Pendleton and I rent almost exclusively to USMC. Buying a property near Miramar or Pendleton will guarantee you a constant flow of responsible tenants. I don't even run a credit check any more; these kids basically have no credit but they have a stady paycheck and I can always call their CO and complain if they act up. Can't do that with a civilian.

Post Vacation rental

I am a real estate broker and would consider buying a vacation rental with you. Central coastal area preferably in La Jolla, PB, OB, or Bay Park.

Default renters

Hi we are a retired couple from England who have family in San Diego we are looking to rent somewhere near Fletcher Hills Mount Helix on a month by month basis whilst we look around the area to buy a property. We are also willing to do a holiday swop for our 2 bed home in the South West of England for 3 -6 months if you require a sabbatical. The house is fully furnished and has all the usual things you would need.

We live in a beautiful area close to beaches and countryside with lots to do all year round. If anyone is interested please contact us on here. We are flexible with dates so can fit in to suit.
Regards

The OP is looking for a place to find rentals, not renters.

I would post on craigslist. I have always had terrific luck there.
