I wish they would ticket those a**holes on noisy motorcycles going over 55 in a 30 mph on Mission Blvd.

Then they need to not speed and risk getting caught and having a large fine. It is a choice to speed, after all, not something anyone HAS to do.

I believe ca has the highest tickets in the nation. The driver only being a teen didn't help the situation.

Lucky you. In Virginia that would be a misdemeanor crime: reckless driving, permanent record and could result in jail time or costs of over $1,000.

Well considering the original got their ticket in 2011, they're no longer a teenager.

Zombie thread.

Zombie thread indeed, and yes, California does have ridiculous fine amounts for its tickets (I believe that there was recently some movement towards sanity recently) but be glad that for most of California’s freeways you have to drive just about like an idiot/maniac to actually get the attention to be pulled over and then get a ticket.

Unlike in Virginia, where you will get pulled over just for speeding regardless if everyone else is going at the same pace, in CA if you are staying in your lane with traffic with reasonable distance between other cars, even if it’s going 85, you will almost never get pulled over. The CHP here targets reckless drivers, not speeders.

Ask somebody in Virginia if that’s the case. In Virginia speeding is reckless driving. In California it’s called going with the traffic and you won’t be bothered by the CHP. Drive like an idiot though and they’ll nail you.

Big difference, when I drive with the flow of traffic at 80MPH on a 65-70MPH freeway I am not driving recklessly.
