I lived in Chula Vista as a kid. Went to Padre games at Lane Field, Charger games at Balboa Park Stadium (where I sold Cokes while in college), and watched the Clippers play. Then, I took off for northern California for 40 years and New Mexico for 9. Now, my NM house is for sale and I'm returning to the San Diego area. The reason: the weather and comfortable feel of the area. I'm sure it's nothing like it was in the 60s, but the weather and the vibe are still there.

+1,

Exactly.

The biggest problem is the people that are always making these generalizations.

One big change is that downtown San Diego is a lot better now than it was back in the 60's and 70's.

The Reader just did an article on the 75 Things to Love about San Diego that is a fun read It mentions frisbee golf, the velodrome races and hiking North Fortuna (Something different from Cowles), among other things.

You are ABSOLUTELY right Jenkay. Thanks for getting this thread back on target and not bogged down with these sort of things.

Thanks as always sdurbanite for posting these fun lists. Man, we have benefited tremendously from all these lists and articles you post about. I can't tell you how many restaurants we've tried on your various lists. My wife thinks that you and Jenkay have the BEST taste! All your recommendations have been spot on target!

I don't travel as much as I used to before I moved.

You see, I used to travel here a couple of times a year when I lived in DC.

Now that I live here, I don't have to.
