Here's a couple of places I've been to recently:

Chateau Orleans (North PB) - great cajun food. The Sunday Jazz brunch buffet is great, only $15 with unlimited mimosa's and watermelon wine.

Mardi Gras Marketplace (Midway) - relatively cheap and quick with great basic Cajun classics

Belgian Fries (PB) - Great breakfast with good waffles to choose from. Also the fries are something else, they are the best fries I've ever had.

Here are a few of my favorite places -

Ra-Ka-De-Ka Fresh Thai Kitchen (Grantville) - Thai to go that is cooked fresh when you order...check it out

Saigon (East San Diego) - Cheap Vietnamese with large portions. Giant springrolls. Don't be surprised if you are the only non-Vietnamese in the restaurant

Toro Sushi (Grantville) - Good, inexpensive sushi

Hodad's (OB) - Go for the burger

Burger Lounge - (Kensington/La Jolla) - Same as above

Crazy Burger - (North Park)

Sala Thai (College Area) - Yum

Neighborhood (East Village) - Beer selection and burger

Extraordinary Desserts (Little Italy/Hillcrest) - Just Go!

Rancho's (North Park) - Mexican

Ortega's (Hillcrest) - Best Salsa

Sombrero's (All over the City) - There's a reason why Blink-182 had their burritos Fed Ex'd to them wherever they were playing a concert.

The Mission (East Village/North Park/Mission Beach) - Great breakfast place

Phil's Barbeque - (Sports Arena) - I've been going here since they moved from their Mission Hills location

Yog-Art (Hillcrest) - Please try the tart yogurt. You'll be hooked. Cool art gallery/coffeehouse setting

Yakitori Yakyudori (Hillcrest) - Good Japanese

Emerald - (Kearny Mesa) - My favorite Dim Sum

I've got plenty more, but I figure this is a good start for those of you looking for a new favorite restaurant.

Happy Eating!!!
LOL about Blink 182 and having burritos fed ex'd. We did the exact same thing when we left home. We were badly missing our burritos and rolled tacos. Cost nearly 200.00 to have a few burritos and rolled tacos fed-ex'd to Missouri, lol, but it was soooo worth it!

Man, Belgian Frie is awesome but everytime I head there I feel like I'm one step closer to shaking hands with the gravedigger. Their food is so rich/delicious.

Also for Thai Food I would reccommend Thai Village in PB. Cheap as all hell for lunch, large portions, and very solid.
