Hi all,
We're going to SeaWorld next week and need a hotel within 20 minutes. Looking for something VERY close to the beach, with a pool and air conditioning. We stayed in the Oceanside Marina for only $130 a night last week (nice place!), but it didn't have a/c! Thanks!

Might try the Del Mar Inn.

What is your per night budget? Are you hoping for another $130 a night hotel, or can you go higher? Also, will you be here on weeknights or on a weekend?

These areas would be closest to Sea World and have plenty of hotels:

Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Hotel Circle (not a beach area but very close)

We could go up to $160 per night. I don't really care if it's the fanciest thing, just want air conditioning, beach, pool and free parking. Also, want to avoid resort fees since that just hikes the price, really.

I'd like to be able to access the beach from the hotel. I'm on my own with two little ones and don't want to have to pay for parking in a lot and lug our beach stuff from the parking lot to the sand.
We'll be there June 1-3, mid-week.

If your going next week, you're not going to need A/C. It's hasn't gotten that warm yet.

I've never stayed there, only driven and walked by, so this is not a personal recommendation, but the Blue Sea Beach Hotel in Pacific Beach is showing a rate of $188 for the nights you'll be here. You can't get closer to the beach than that. But that's their lowest rate so check on the room and probably the rooms available at that rate will book up fast, as that is the lowest "on the sand" price I could find in a quick search. Or, if you don't mind walking a bit farther to the beach, the Pacific Shores Inn in Pacific Beach has rooms for $160 during your stay. Again, I've never stayed there, only passed by. It looks like a basic motel from the outside. http://www.pacificshoresinn.com/

Check the reviews on a site like TripAdvisor.com before booking. There's a San Diego forum there where you might get additional suggestions.

Pacific Beach is a ten minute drive to Sea World.

I'd check to see if any pool is heated this time of year. Of course, kids can swim in anything!

We were in Oceanside last week and the hotel didn't have air. It was miserable at night. Couldn't leave windows open because harbor and parking lot noise. It gets hot ans stuffy very quickly without that ocean breeze (even in May). Even if it wasn't noisy outside, I don't like sleeping with windows open. Lol, I was raised in the city where we lock up at night!

It's been cool here at night, and it'll be even cooler at night if you're staying at the beach.

I would stay away from Pacific Shores Inn. Terrible service. They have air conditioning but it was terribly loud and if it breaks I would almost guarantee they won't come and fix it.

You get what you pay for, in other words.
