Kinda related side note for you car guys.

Wife and I toured a home for sale last week that had a detached garage that was locked.

I asked to see it, but was told the garage was off limits due to a "really expensive car" inside.

I requested to see inside as garages are important to me as a car-nut, so the realtor went inside and asked the homeowner who happened to be home.

An elderly man came out and opened the garage.

Inside was a completely restored 1938 Mercedes that had competed at Pebble Beach twice. It was truly beautiful, and the owner was happy to chat about it.

I googled the value when I got home.

$15M

Oh yeah, there're cars in places that can surprise. (If you see an F-40 or F-50, or Enzo, on HVR, they're all owned by Steve.)

Been to Nethercutt Museum?

Who knew there was so much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in make-up!

***BELATED UPDATE***

So after a three-month break due to a family health crisis (all good now, thank goodness) we resumed our search last week, and just yesterday our offer was accepted on a place in the Mary Lane/Summit district of southeast Escondido.

The house is on two acres, and it was priced under market due to some cosmetic shortcomings, and the offer is contingent on the results of the home/pool/well inspections due this week. The garage is an oversize three-car, which will do nicely for now. I hope to put up another garage/workshop on the property in the near future.

Awesome, congrats! SE Escondido is beautiful. I hope everything goes well with the inspections.
