Stay in the historic portion. You still have great views, and the character of it can’t be beat. It was built with no blueprints. They would sketch and build, and it shows. I’m 6’4” and there’s hallway passages I can barely pass through without hitting my head, lol. I can hear the creaks, and smell the old weathered wood as I type this. I love that pace so much I got married there.

The walls are very thin at the Del. Wife and I spent a night once listening to the couple in the room next door have marathon sex. Dude was a machine...

Yeah just know that the Del is old and it shows. It's nice, but don't expect a new feeling hotel room. It's still clean, but just wanted to set your expectations.

Ha. I remember my wife was like, "Damn". Was quite humbling, tbh. I'm sure several little blue pills were involved.

Definitely stay in the historic hotel, 100%. The views tower might as well be FL.

A repeat performance will certainly give the OP's teens something to talk about.

I'll second the Del Coronado over the Grand. It's a much better property since Hilton took it over.

I also have a soft spot for the Rancho Bernardo Inn, I love its simple elegance but probably not great for teens.

Have you considered the Hilton Bayfront? It's a modern tower hotel with great views and you are only a short walk away from Petco Park and Little Italy and great restaurants.

Good luck!

I would stay in the Historic Wing of the Hotel del Coronado. The tower rooms are like any other hotel room in any other city in the world.
