This is one reason. The other reason that bags are being searched is so people don't sneak in weapons.

Is this a new thing ? I've never been searched or seen anyone else searched .... I've gone in with some pretty big bags - a big tote with my camera gear before i had my kid, and a large bag/backpack/diaperbag since I've been a mom. Ironically enough - I guess I do have what most people would consider a weapon on me. My daughter went from the bottle to "people food" - she always eats whatever we are eating. I'm pretty worried about chocking so I always have a steak knife in my bag to cut things up for her (ie Costco hotdog). I keep it in a plastic glasses case .....

We've never been stopped and I usually have a backpack. But we have seen others stopped and like I said, my son and his GF were stopped a few weeks ago.

Guests may bring personal food items into our parks. Large food storage containers such as coolers are not permitted on grounds, and no facilities are available for food storage.
why would they do that, if the rules specifically allow it? Was it marijuana brownies? Crack Cakes?

I'm guessing they are looking for glass bottles of any kind. As in beer. But they did take a bunch of lunch type snacks from them. I think they were cookies. I wasn't there, so I'm not sure. We've seen others checked too. But not us personally.

My daughter worked as a Keeper last year there. She said they were told to take any food away from the idiots who were throwing at animals/ in cages. She called security any number of times!

Well, I dunno. . .about this friend of mine type of experience. Well a friend of mine jumped out of the skyfari and landed on a gorilla and they gave him a secret pass.

If they tried to take something from me that followed the rules, we would have a problem. I would cite the rule and escalate to managment.

Lets assume your family was packing marijuana laced brownies and leave it at that.
