I was watching TV. At 11:38 pm on Aug 23. When all of a sudden. My chair rocked back and forth. Several times. It is notable that the chair in question is a heavy recliner. (Add an additional 190 lbs. Since I was setting in it.) And that I have carpet over a hard floor. In a ground floor apartment. There is no basement below me. The movement was strong enough that it felt as if somebody had bumped into the side of the chair. This lasted about two seconds or so. And the chair rocked back and forth about three times. There was no sound at all. No large explosions etc. And I live alone and do not have any pets such as large dogs. It was quite noticeable. Rely startled the hell out of me. Anyone know what in the hell is going on? Note I live on Oakland's west side. Where I moved in from Iowa city Iowa back in April. Did I imagine this or what? Talk about freaky.

So that's what an earth quake is like. Sure startled the hell out of. Just was setting there. And all of a sudden the chair starts moving with me on it.

I felt it, it felt like my chair bumped up a little bit for a split second. I looked on USGS and sfgate and didn't see anything about it so I figured maybe I imagined it, lol. Then I looked at sfgate just now and they said there was a quake. I guess the Bay Area felt left out yesterday.

There were two earthquakes: a 3.6 at 11:36, and a 2.3 at 11:41

Wow, I thought it was later. Amazingly I was actually fully asleep and it woke me up. It usually takes me 40 minutes to get to sleep and I went to bed at about 11:15 last night.
