The glass wall was my favorite part of the rendering. Not sure how "earthquake" safe it would be, but it's a stunning feature.

Yeah, this is a folly and the Mark Purdy piece below illustrates why both the team and city officials are way over their heads.

Warriors step up in prestige, down in fan loyalty

lol@ this article:

"I'm not saying the Warriors won't draw in San Francisco. This is an astonishingly fine location, and the sheer novelty would pack the joint for a couple of years. But say the next five seasons bring a playoff drought, the type we've endured forever. There's no chance that S.F. arena would sell out. It's a different crowd, a different vibe, lacking that pure Oakland soul."

what is this crap? oakland soul? different crowd? its 10 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE CURRENT LOCATION. if you cant afford 5$ toll across the bay bridge or a bart/ferry ride across the bay then u need to worry about things other than basketball.
the giants had some crap years from 2000 to now. didnt matter. and there were no 1$ wednesday deals either. bunch of cry babies

And what the heck is this "pure Oakland soul" thing? Someone needs to clarify this rather broad term. If by "soul" they meant black culture, then SF has plenty. Don't you worry, plenty of soul here.

Definitely different crowd. They seem to be more interested in bon fires than Basketball in Oakland:

go to an a's game and then go to a giants game and tell me
a) which crowd is more into the game
b) how many people are wearing the team's gear
c) which atmosphere is better before, during and after the game

they want to attribute all these things to oakland as if they're non existent in san francisco. pick any random orange friday game in SF and compare it to any game in the coliseum. its fun and loud in att park. complete opposite in oakland.

lol i know exactly where that video was taken, thats on the 2500 block of mission like 2 blocks from folsom, one of the grimiest turd holes in the city. its like taking footage from intl blvd in oakland and saying omg look. the pics of bonfires and riots people post in oakland are usually taking place in downtown oakland or somewhere nearby. thats the difference

i was in the civic center when the giants won the world series before, during and after the game. here's some pics.
look at the raucous rioting crowd, pure mayhem:

edgar renteria hitting the 3 run homer:

it was just people running around high fiving each other, screaming and honking their horns.

So what you're saying is the Giants have a much larger crowd at their games, what a shocking revelation! B and C clearly have to do with higher attendance but A's fans are just into the game. You don't go to the Coliseum unless you really love the A's, so many at the Giants games are there to socialize and it's obvious. Probably why they gave away orange TEXTING GLOVES, so for all those not actually paying attention could keep their hands warm while they update their FB status or tweet.

There's a reason why SF has never been able to build a large indoor arena, because San Franciscans dont want one and that has been proven over and over again several times over the past 50 years as proposal after proposal have bitten the dust, just like SF didnt want a 49er stadium in their city, hence the team has relocated to Santa Clara.

The Mayor and team owners are in for a rude awakening.

yes ignore the first part of that list, the fact that the crowd are more into the game than they are at the coliseum. it doesnt even feel like you're at a professional baseball game when you're in oakland, its a joke.
and the point i was making is that the oakland arent a 'bay area' team in the sense that the warriors are a 'bay area' team.. a's are an oakland team, and look what pathetic crowds an oakland team draws.
at&t park is loud and has a fun atmosphere before/during/after the game. the coliseum feels like visiting an old museum nobody wants to go to. its cold, unwelcoming, quiet.. depressing. even those sad 2$ bart/hotdog tickets dont attract people.
