Why don't you tell us what you've uncovered in doing your basic research, and ask specific questions to fill in the missing blanks?

Give the OP a break. I don't think English is her first language.

To the OP (kristinawagner): Do you want to live in San Francisco or in a nearby town? How much can you pay for an apartment? Where will you be working? Sei spezifisch!

No, English or German is not my first language .
I lived for some time in Minnesota Iron range. Just wanted to know good areas in S. Francisco in case I would move there.
But if you do not like to answer my request It would be okay with me.

That they are. The problem is you just asked the most vague question possible. What you NEED to do is to tell us how much you can afford so we can give you realistic (and helpful) advice.

Come back with the following:

1. Buy or rent?

2. How much per month can you afford?

3. How many bedrooms and baths?

4. How far from work would you prefer to reside?

5. Okay, so roughly where would you work?

Until you do that, this is a big waste of time for all of us.

Yes, the question is too broad. It's like asking "Can you make a list of food that is good to eat?"

But in any case, the short answer is that most of SF is nice (imo of course). Just stay away from the Tenderloin, parts of Bayview, and parts of the Western Addition and you'll be alright.

Outside of SF, just stay away from certain parts of Richmond, East Oakland, Vallejo, East Palo Alto and you'll be fine.

.

If you wanted to know good areas to live in Paris, France I would tell you without wanting to know anything about you and your financial matter.
It is not your business!
