The restaurant "Chow" is great. Went to the one in Lafayette several times. Good breakfast!

I didn't look but let me guess is Gary Danko or whatever it's called number one? That place is extremely overratted and over priced $300 for two people?

Mostly I agree with Bauer, but also agree that Bay Wolf is overrated. Since it is local I end up for various reasons going back every two or three years. Never had a meal there that matched the hype.

great fun to read but it is interesting what they call the BAy area..

I have to laugh at the "over rated" responses, $300 for 2 people. I remember when my husband was first transferred to San Francisco and I was spending a weekend house hunting with him. We went to a really upscale restaurant, I want to say in North Beach area, but it has been 40 plus years ago. I do remember the name, it was La Trianans (spelling certainly isn't right) Anyway it was French, the menu was al la Carte which we hardly knew what that meant: we ordered salads, he had turtle if I remember right and I had Crab Mornay..Well, I can tell you, I didn't like that awful sause with Sherry wine in it. I think we had dessert and a couple of drinks. We didn't order wine cause we would not have had any idea what to order. My dinner for the entree alone was $5.50 and his, $6.00. I think our bill was around $20.00 plus the tip which was about 12% then (for a nice restaurant) We talked about that for years. Oh one more thing, when I really want to impress people I usually make a great Mornay sause...

Never tried Bay Wolf..after reading the overrated part here I won't bother now! I do have to say that he's spot on with keeping Aziza (my favorite) and right to take Olivetto (also overrated imo) off the list.

Also, for the foodies on this board..try "Sea Salt" in Berkeley (San Pablo Ave).. fabulous new must try seafood place that's pretty reasonable and lovely inside.

you are making me hungry, I was planning on grilling scallops and salmon tonight but hubby is stuck trying to get the TV to work. He has been on the phone with Direct TV for over 2 hours. We are going to have left overs.
