What a damn shame that the gangs are destroying San Jose.

SJ folks aren't going to be too enamored of these comments from SJPD:

"When you have a free event downtown, you're going to get that," Morales said. "The kids don't have a lot to do, and the carnivals do attract that element. It's just a way to get out and, for some of them, to cause problems."
Three suspects were being sought by police, the spokesman said, though they had no further leads since the incident. "They may not even investigate it," Morales said. "We get so many stabbings, this is just another one added to the pile."

Really?!

(About how many stabbings have occurred at or near Christmas in the Park? Not exactly a dangerous back alley location)

A young teenager gets stabbed and this is their response? Wow... way to insult the victim (who is a child) and downplay a possibly deadly attack.

Sad that it happens, sad that it gets such a casual dismissal from the responsible enforcement agencies. Hoodlums are going to keep doing mischief and mayhem until they get caught, or have a very strong expectation of such.

Sad response from SJPD. A 14 year old boy almost gets killed and they respond in this manner? Awful.

I think a lot of the problem is the SJ police are way understaffed.
Of course, they and the firefighters shot themselves in the foot by demanding pensions that pay out 90% after 30 years and an age 50 retirement age (not to mention unlimited unused sick leave payout at retirement, etc.).
