Thank you @ TamRE….goofy question, but if you are in a pet section can you walk your dog on a street thru a non pet section ? Just seems weird that they would have a pet and a non pet section of the same community. Do they have signs posted that say. "STOP…No pets beyond this point ? " I have visions of my husband out to walk the dog and not paying attention, wandering onto a no pet street and getting arrested. LOL
Appreciate all of your help…can't wait to get down there and start looking…hope to do that before next winter ! (that is assuming this winter ever even ends !)

We just moved to Venice and love it. We are less than five miles to the beach and two miles to the Myakka River. Traffic is busy when all the snowbirds are here but when they leave it's pretty calm. We feel very safe here. It was also voted one of the top places to retire in 2014. (We are in our 40's). We can make it it Disney in 1 hour 45 min and Sarasota is 20 mins away. We have a few mobile home parks but you would need to check into the lot rents.

You can walk your pet anywhere, it is just the location of the home (noise). No fencing, pet must always be on a leash. Some allow two dogs, some allow only one. Cats cannot be allowed outside.

We are looking at a move to Florida as well and are considering purchasing an inexpensive mobile home to live in while we look for a regular house. This way we would have a place already for when we make the move as opposed to trying to find someplace to rent within our price range, with no lease and pet friendly. We would then be able to take our time looking as we are not sure right now what area we want to permanently locate. We would then either resale or rent out. The Lakeland area seems to have a lot for sale in our price range of around $10000 with relatively low lot rents. We prefer to be a little farther inland. Does anyone have an idea how much insurance would be on say a 1200 ft. mobile home and does this plan sound feasible? Thanks!
