Maybe they're all going to the doctors' office. My daughter, who works for a medical group in Venice, says they have not noticed a slowdown in the number of patients coming in at all.

Even slower this past weekend! Luckily my sales were a bit better. It's going to be a long summer if my business is this slow! I'm worried it will be a terrible summer. Locals cutting back on spending due to gas, plus less tourist on vacation and road trips due to high gas prices.

I think the inflation and gas is hurting now. A lot of people are buying less than usual I'm noticing as well.

I am seeing some French and German tourist though luckily.

Restaurants seem to be taking a hit too when I go out to eat lately as well. A lot less busy but food prices too. When I go out to eat now I don't drink that much beer due to the menu prices going up.

I have noticed beer and drinks have gone up quite a bit too.

I love Gulf Grouper for example, BUT Publix has it for $37 a Lb right now!

We live right off 41 and haven’t really noticed a drop in the flow of traffic
Don’t go to restaurants that much at all now so can’t comment on that
The people behind us usually go to Maine for summers and they were in their backyard doing lot of landscaping maintenance—cutting back plants and pulling weeds up so maybe they are getting ready to leave for summer

The beach areas are cleared out, and ~85% of the cars have FLA tags in the Nokomis/Venice areas.

The retail stores have cleared out too, & breakfast/lunch restaurants.

All kinds of parking spots along West Venice Ave in Downtown Venice, and at the beach at the end, & at the Venice Pier beaches and jetty...all ~2pm when there are usually zero spots during season, w/o circling for a while to get one.

I don't go out to dinner much so cannot speak to that.

Its a stark contrast to Savannah, where we spent last weekend...Savannah was packed w/ tourists.

When I went to Sharky's last week it was mostly FL plates. I did notice some Maine and MA still but those were likely still stragglers down here who didn't leave yet. Still have a few of those.

Savannah a big tourist area. I suspect many of those are from further up the East Coast taking early vacations or from Atl region.

During "season" I only go when it's warm. Back in early March I went when we had a hot day and got there around 1030 and easily found parking but yea, at 2 not much parking.

Super slow today, one of the slowest Friday's I've ever seen and one of the worst days I've ever had. Sales down over 300 percent today compared to this day last year! Usually when it rains we are busier. Other high volume vendors also had terrible days.

It was as slow as when lockdown just ended and people were paranoid to leave the house. I went to walmart at 630 last night and you could hear a pin drop in there.

What is going on? I'm going to have a brutal summer if it's like this.

Funny 3 months ago folks were complaining about too many visitors. Now there aren't enough. I guess be careful what you wish for.

This past season my sales were better than last season. However now my sales are worse right now than this time last year. Very odd. The locals are spending less than last year

Blame inflation. When you fill up your car and the total is $70+, and a gallon of milk is $5, you pull back on discretionary spending....unless you are wealthy.

I think these gas prices, & inflation as a whole, will hurt our Summer tourism.

I'm not sure how it will impact the Snowbirds next season. Most are affluent, so probably not so much.

Its the family vacationers who this inflation impacts the most regarding trips to our area.

For now, I'm glad the snowbirds left, & I can return to my local haunts w/o the parking & waiting junk.
