Sarasota will be one of the areas we will go through the second week of november. Can anybody recommend a good hotel on the beach? Say around $150/night or less?

Hell ya I can!! SaraSea at Tropical Sun Resorts and they were running a special for $79.95 through October. We spent a week at Sara Sea last year first week of December and it was $108 a night.
It is not right on the beach but the rooms are impeccable and the walk to the beach about two minutes. This place is like old Florida to me and even though we have a free house to stay at in Cape Coral for our next trip this Thanksgiving we will still spend a couple of nights at Sara Sea/Tropical Sun Resorts. The place may have an old florida feel but has top notch and modern amenities. Rooms are beautiful, bedding is fantastic and they are modern including granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances and all have free wi fi.
I should work there I think!
It is so cool to have this place right at Siesta Key beach!

Check it out and let me know your thoughts. I pronmise you for the money you will not get any better than this!! If you check out their reviews on T/A you'll see what I mean. Go back a year and you may see my review.

Tropical Sun Beach Resort

There are I think 4 different properties in the complex. I recommend Sara Sea. However I think now that is probably irrelavent because I believe they have completed a renovation on the entire complex now whereas a year ago it was on the Sara Sea property.
I simply cant say enough good things about this complex and it's location........On Siesta Key Beach!!!!

One of my fav places is The Conclare on Siesta Key off Midnight Pass Rd. It is not ON the beach, but about :30 from the beach, which is a private beach (Crescent Beach). Across the street there are 3 great restaurants, a grocery down the street and a 7-11. It's a great place with great managers.

By the way, the Topical Shores is near this place, and this beach is Crescent Beach, NOT Siesta Key Beach as the previous poster said. Not a major deal, but they are two completely different beaches.

Yes, the pizza joint is City Pizza which now serves breakfast. The others are Miguels (French) and Javiers (Peruvian) which are both fantastic! We now live here on Crescent Beach and find we don't have to go far to get great food.
