Just out of curiosity what market are you in? Savannah has no corporate office. Closest is Atlanta. One of our drivers had to physically drive 5 hours there just to show a human that she's a woman because a rider claimed she wasn't.

This is a woman who drives for her principle source of income and is a top rated driver, and she has to lose a day of wages because there is no one to call and email support is beginning to disappear. Most stateside support staff have between eliminated.

I don't have to drive but do so because it's fun. The rate cuts make it less fun. Unfortunately, there are full time drivers out there who are harder hit.

It looks like you're probably working in the Atlanta market. Please consider this thread being in posted in the Savannah section, we don't want to muddy the waters with information that may be accurate in Atlanta, but not in Savannah.

Corporate does suck but their local corporate support center does a good job iwith any issues.or concerns drivers may have.
You can stop by at any time during operational hours.
Again, Atlanta has a corporate office. Savannah doesn't.

Ladies and Gentlemen who are reading through 5 pages of this thread, please allow me to get back on track a little bit.

You'll find that the Uber experience in Savannah is fantastic. We really are a really good group of drivers. Like in just about anything, there are a few bad weeds amongst the flowers, but for those visiting us here, we hope to treat you well.

And to be clear, with Uber, tipping isn't necessary. But it's not included in your fare. As with any service industry, your demonstration of gratitude with a gratuity is always appreciated.

Again, Atlanta has a corporate office. Savannah doesn't.
Please note that any Uber driver can do any city in Georgia. So your not muddying the waters since most promotions are generally regional and has the same format principle. The only difference is timing of certain festivals and events in that local city, but Uber frequently invites drivers to explore other cities durning large events like St Pat and the Masters.

Up until I just now checked, Savannah was part of the Uber East Coast team. That's since changed. But even though I can drive in GA, SC and to a degree in FL and NC, it doesn't mean that we are in the same market. The promotions are different - heck even the app acts different depending on which city you're in. There are plenty of other differences, too. IE: we don't have VIP, Select, SUV, Black or any sort of premium service (except XL, which really isn't premium, just big).

I do understand what you're saying, but Atlanta is a very different place to work than Savannah. So, yes, I could get those incentives if I drove in Atlanta without having to reapply, but I choose to stay in Savannah.

We were visiting Savannah from the Charlotte area a couple of weekends ago and used Uber several times. Great experiences every time!

For what it's worth, keep your eyes and ears open. Lyft is coming to town!

Where does your loyalty lie between the two as a driver for Uber? That might lend more insight to the forum.

I have no loyalty to any transportation network provider. It's common for drivers in markets with both platforms to be online with both. They will then accept whatever ping comes in first then go offline during that trip.

Uber's marketshare is huge. Drivers bank on surge pricing. What will likely happen is that as a surge begins to occur, riders will switch to Lyft (which only has one level of dynamic pricing called "PrimeTime"). This will bring Uber surge back down until Lyft drivers are exhausted. Then, Uber surge will begin to increase again, but this time without Lyft being available.

It's a huge game of chess, supply and demand, patience and persistence - both for the drivers and riders.

Something to note, though. When there is a particularly higher level of surge, finding a taxi can be nearly impossible.

I'm confused on this: did you mean "taxi" as in yellow cab of old or Uber?
