Food places I like to visit:

Larry's on Skidaway Road
Tubby's in Thunderbolt
Garibaldis Downtown (downstairs)
Yia Yia's Kitchen (Greek)
Sandfly Bar-B-Q (in Sandfly neighborhood)
Green Truck
Too bad THE FLORENCE has closed. I loved to go there.
Oh, and the Sundae Café on Tybee is worth a trip.

We'll be coming down for a few days in mid-September to celebrate our Anniversary. This Thread needs a Summation for the Jury....

Looking for premium Seafood, the majority here think highly of The Chart House and Love's, correct ??
Are we talkin' Shrimp & Grits ?? Anything else outstanding on the Shellfish side of the Menu ??
Is their Early Menu on Sunday thru Thursday still in effect ??

For BBQ, is Sandfly the tops ?? Is it worth driving down to the Ferguson Avenue location ??
Are there any other Pulled Pork & Brisket places in downtown ??

What goes on at Rocks on the Roof ?? Cocktails at Sunset ??

Are there any Streets we should not be walking after dark ?? Crime Hot Spots ??

I'd like to have one more top shelf restaurant recommendation, just in case.

More upscale suggestions are The Pink House, Elizabeth's on 37th and I would put 17hundred90 in that category, and Garabaldis, which I think someone suggested, too. Did anyone suggest Alligator Soul yet?

I'm planning on going to the Chart House tomorrow, so I'll let you know about the early dining thing.

Thanks -- I'd appreciate the info on Chart House Early Dinner.

My DW is a Beef Brisket Connoisseur, while I favor BBQ Pork, and it's often difficult to please both of us at the same restaurant....Any BBQ joints to recommend ??

Are there any streets of the downtown area where we should not walk ??

Almost all BBQs have both brisket and pulled pork. I'm not and expert on BBQ. I've only been to Blowin Smoke when it was downtown, but now it's more south, so if you must drive anyway, go to sandfly.

Alas, it is possible to get shot on any street in Savannah, but you probably won't. Stay in after midnight and your chances are better.

So, we were there at 5:30 and had the early dining menu. I noticed a couple was seated at 6:00 and they were not given that menu, so I'd get there by 5:30. We spent about $90. but that was the fault of my 2 glasses of $12. wine. My bad.
Also, plenty of people just get a cocktail and split an appetizer. That would work for me, since my stomach is the size of a pea.

gentlearts--
Thanks for reconnoitering the Chart House for us !! Our check-in time is 3pm, we may just drop things off in the room and head down to West Bay St for Early Dinner.

What is the recommended parking arrangement around the Chart House ??

It is bad. Last night we scored a good spot, on the street, but if you make a pass and there isn't one, it's an easy walk from the Whitaker St parking garage. Meters are still free after 5:00, but that is supposedly changing.

FYI, I heard that the chart house is the oldest brick and mortar building in GA. If you look around the awful starving artist paintings, you can see a bunch of history in those walls.
