I think this is the most likely scenario. My daughter here on SSI is fairly annoyed by the 'mandatory evacuation' and thinks it's a bit of an overreach. We're up in Atlanta right now, and will probably be no better off than they are down there.

Lastest tracks have Irma swinging west of Miami and making landfall in the everglades. Naples is going to get smacked. She then splits Florida in two as she heads northward and then hits Atlanta as a tropical storm.

Don't forget how long the city took to let people BACK into the city last year. I know it's mandatory BUT hope after the blow they allow people to get back fast.

Well maybe not, if this storm stays on the most westward track. It's a huge storm so Savannah could still definitely get some wind and rain, but as a tropical storm/weak Category 1. Seems like this storm, more than others, really has a mind of its own.

I notice some models are having a loop de loop across the mid south. Could end up being a major flood threat for north Georgia if it sticks around long enough.

Those folks that took off for Atlanta are going to be pis if that storm hits them and not in Savannah.

How things change fast. I'm thinking far more about possible flooding in central Georgia, esp. around large inland rivers near population centers -- like the Ocmulgee through Macon or the Oconee by Athens. My stubborn-as-mules Savannah relatives will stay in town now, which they were considering even with a Cat 3 direct hit. Most models now show Irma clear of Chatham County, so they are happy as clams.

Yes, unless things change, we're probably staying now. But seriously, I have such Irma fatigue that I'm feeling like, just kill me and get it over with. The stupid thing is still in Cuba and I'm exhausted.

It seems as if the mandatory evacuation should be canceled. The hurricane center is only expecting tropical storm force winds along ga coast based on the TS watch. When the order was made, the storm was forecasted to go up the east coast, but now... it seems like a waste of a lot of money and resources and I imagine most will ignore it and stay anyway.
