Desire to relocate from FL to the Savannah area to establish a pet sitting business. Have been unable to determine the competition in the area. Would appreciate feedback from some pet lover's re competition and the best area of the city where such a business would be successful. This would be a home based business, no storefront, and would service customer's within 10-12 miles of my home. Desire to purchase a home 1-5 years old in the $175-225K range. Thank you.

I would call local vets, pet grooming places, and doggie day cares and ask. Here are the google search results for "pet sitting Savannah".

There are a few, but most are pet grooming shops or vet clinics. We have resorted to paying a neighborhood girl to watch our pets, or board them at our Vet in Richmond Hill.

I think it would be a great idea. As a pet owner we haven't had much luck finding a great boarding option. Most of them are closed on Sun, and I hate to leave my pups there for an extra night when they could be at home. The ones that are open on Sun are not very good.

As for a new home in that price range, I think Pooler or Richmond Hill would be your best alternative, but you would have to check the covenants, since many will not allow you to run a business out of your house.
