This is a interesting video of a new technology that will help with wearable technology.

Once we can 3D print organs it will be a complete game changer for the medical community and a step towards trans-humanism.

This is from PHYS.org:

(Phys.org) —Three-dimensional printing has garnered coverage in the popular press for its application in the custom manufacturing of tools and mechanical parts. But six School of Engineering seniors have recently taken the application of the technology into the medical field, using 3-D printing to create body parts.

Under the direction of Anson Ma, assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and the Institute of Materials Science, two three-person teams of chemical engineering students were tasked with creating an artificial kidney for their Senior Design Project using 3-D printing technology. 3-D printing is an additive manufacturing method capable of creating complex parts that are otherwise impossible or extremely difficult to produce.

Another step towards trans-humanism.

This is from MIT review:

A robotic arm controlled by electrical signals from muscles may soon be available to adults who have lost an arm.

Last week, the Food and Drug Administration announced that it will allow the sale of a prosthetic robotic arm to adults with amputations at the shoulder joint, mid-upper arm, or mid-lower arm. The system, developed by DEKA Research and Development, is controlled by muscles near the attachment site or muscles in the user’s feet.

*cough* If they can develop technology that teaches us directly at the brain neron level then we can replace teachers and the class room.

We dont need to merge with technology or AI.

But we do need to use technology to teach ourselves faster.
perhaps a module that exists outside

Where the nerons can communicate with it like extra ram to hold data and process data.

Good point. I mean imagine being able to read and understand all the knowledge of civilization in a few minutes.. How will that change things? No one knows.

Another step towards being able to merged with technology.

This is from Science Daily:

Scientists have create flexible transistors that can grip large tissues, nerves and blood vessels without losing their electronic properties. These biologically adaptive, flexible transistors might one day help doctors learn more about what is happening inside the body, and stimulate the body for treatments.

I always post about how once we merge with the technology we will not be like the Borg. Well there are always exception to that rule and this one technology is kind of like the Borg in how they could fix their ship. At the time I thought cool but will never be possible. Well here it is!

The story:

Small cracks that develop within the fiberglass bodies of modern cars and planes can quickly turn into irreversible damage, which undermines their structural integrity. Unfortunately, the materials used to construct these vehicles, called fiber-reinforced composites, are challenging to repair using conventional methods.

A new system developed by researchers at the Beckman Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign embeds a 3D vascularized network within the composite, akin to the way blood vessels embed tissue in the human body. This network enables these composites to repair themselves automatically when the material is damaged.

According to this scientist, computers won't gain sentience based on mathematical equation:

This is assuming alot like "conscious contents require lossless memory"

This has been a debate on Facebook. They do not understand how fast computers advance. Plus like Ray says even if we can not prove they are conscious they will say they are and it will be hard to prove they are not.
