Anyone have any experiences or stories to judge how the Seattle area job market is?

Most specifically, engineering or elementary teaching jobs (myself and my wife).

Thanks.

Is is difficult to find employment in Seattle as it is in Florida? I recognized the economy is bad all over, but some places are a little better than others.

There's always work but you may not end up where you want or be making the wage you want. The job market right now is favorable to employers.

How hard is it to find work as a nurse LPN?

In Seattle (in general) do they look at WHERE you've worked vs how long you've been working or what? Like if you work in a high profile location doing work you otherwise would not be doing does that count as experience for anything vs working at a basic clinic for decades?

The Seattle job market can be summed up as follows: Really bad!

You weren't specific on what kind of "engineering". If you're talking about software engineering, you'll find the market highly competitive, but you should be able to find a job of some sort. Software seems to be the only jobs that are actually moving in this town. If your focus is aerospace, Boeing is not doing well right now and is laying off their workforce. However, there will be more opportunity in the near future as many engineers start pulling their pension retirement chutes. I can’t speak for other industries. Everything else in Seattle is crazy competitive right now. Why? I feel it's because Seattle is one of the most educated cities in America. As such, you're competing for jobs against other highly qualified candidates. It’s a tough market and I would never advise anyone moving here without securing a good job first.
