AT this point I've narrowed my choice to Bellevue School district (although one can't go wrong with the Issaquah SD too). I just have to figure out Bellevue High vs Newport Senior High School. Thank you once again for all the replies, I've given you all rep points. Happy thanksgiving. just4ivaylo I've sent you a private message. Please respond at your convenience.

Both schools are pretty much the same quality. I believe I read somewhere Newport Senior HS might edge out Bellevue HS slightly in the ranks but both have the same rigorous education but on the downside, be for warned it does come with the pressure to do well. I've noted on several threads I am personally not a fan of Bellevue HS since it was a horrible experience for my son for many reasons, but in all fairness, if someone is looking for a high quality education and has a child who thrives in a rigorous environment, it's a great choice. I don't think you can go wrong with either school. Good luck in finding a home!

jojo7, very well put. Thank you. I would like to go out to both schools and learn more about each one. At the same time will be on the lookout for good homes in and around these schools. A garage, decent size and a safe neighborhood is as much a priority as the school area.

You're kidding, right? The Bellevue area will provide that and more.

Newport HS and Bellevue HS are traditional rivals. IIRC, Newport HS also edge Bellevue out in terms of socioeconomic levels and racial diversity. That was ten years ago. Upon looking it up, I see that it has since switch in terms of socioeconomic level, but Newport has slight edge on racial diversity. They're both good schools, you can't go wrong with either.

Oh yes. Rivals indeed. Been to all the football games when my son attended Bellevue HS (he was in the band) and the intensity felt like a pro game with people yelling everything and anything at those poor kids on the field and including the refs. My husband and I would look at each other and smile as we were thankful our son was in the "drum line" and not the "line of scrimmage".

Inkpoe, let me clarify. What I meant was for my budget (350 to 425K) if I get a townhome/condo with a decent square footage, two car garage, in a good neighborhood (I understand that most areas around Bellevue are safe) where my stay at home wife would feel "secure" then I would pull the trigger and not let Newport or Bellevue high be the deciding factor. I will tell you this. My daughters are more academically oriented although they play piano and tennis. That's why I was leaning towards Newport. The Seattle Met magazine has now come up with a best high schools issue. Just got it off the stand today.

Okay guys quick update. Just hooked up with Ira (would recommend him highly for anyone looking for a realtor) and started looking at some homes. After some more thought and research, I have included Issaquah (Issy) in the mix along with Bellevue. Why ? Coz, the more I look at homes in Issy ... I am finding out that you can get a much nicer home/neighborhood for 100 to 130 K less compared to Bellevue and the neighborhood seems more family oriented compared to the hustle nd bustle of Factoria (Newport senior) and Downtown Bellevue (Bellevue High). Plus my little research shows that the Pinelake Middle and Skyline High School are one of the top schools in WA. Texastrigirl's earlier post also had a very nice link on that school being ranked well. So eventhough Bellevue schools are ranked in the top 100 in the nation, I feel that there will not be much of a compromise at all when it comes to some of the Issy Schools. Any thoughts on the above Skyline High school from an academic standpoint ? Is is a bad idea ? or should I stick to Bellevue High school district (Newport and BHS) ? I do know that afterall it is the student not the school (or like they say it's the driver not the car) but still I want to provide them with the proper equipment ( in this case the school) so that I have no regrets in the future.

Nope. Never even heard of Issy. I think I had a neighbor named Izzy once though.
What are the residents of Issaquah referred to? Issaquahnians? Issaquahkers?

I've heard the teenagers that hang out in Target call it both "The Issy" and "The 'Squah"
