Don't tell me condos and company successfully programmed an entire city into using "belltown" and "denny triangle". I will always use the very unique denny regrade, and will probably continue to say "coliseum" and "kingdome" too. /meh.

And the Cascade neighborhood has been disappeared as well. Now it's South Lake Union. Southcenter Mall isn't Southcenter Mall anymore, it's "Westfield Center Plaza Mall Experience at Southcenter" or some such nonsense. Long live the Denny Regrade. Meet you at the Doghouse.

LOL, the doghouse! Now those were the days! I miss that place. It will always be southcenter to me. Most people I know say "meet you at Pike Place" never West Edge, whoever came up with that one should be fired, it has no orginality at all.

My point of this thread is why take away the name of a neighborhood that brings character and history and replace it with some nondescript invented name? Should Ballard become "fishing district" or Queen Anne "garden hill"? Even Pill Hill has a logical reason behind it. I'm probably the only one in the city that refers to the Providence Hospital area is "Second Hill", the original name and one of Seattle's seven hills. Meet you at the Seattle native society.

Us south King County people from 15-30 years a go know "International Highway" to be either 99 or Pac Highway South.

"The Commons at Federal Way" will forever be Sea-Tac Mall.

Before 9/11, one could ride on the Sea-Tac Airport Tram without a boarding pass and slide down the escalator dividers "carside".

Harrier remembers visiting Hillgrove Cemetary off of 200th St. S.

Now one needs a permit.

Remember "Roses's between S. 260th and S. 272nd before it burned down, or the bowling Alley at 16th Ave S, and Pacific Highway S., which Harrier believes was called "Sportsman Lane's" or something similar?

Now the bowling alley is(or was) a fitness club.

There used to be a hamburger stand in the early 80's-late 90's right across from the old QFC in downtown Des Moines at S. 216th/Marine View Dr.

Now it appears to be a Thai restaurant - unless Harrier is missing something.

Factoria is now "Marketplace at Factoria" which will never stick. Re-branding is an attempt to overcome any negative connotations while sounding more appealing to area newcomers. About the only ones keeping their traditional identity are Northgate and Crossroads, though even Northgate is officially "Northgate, a Simon Mall".
