Sahalee is an older gated golf community that feeds to Blackwell Elementary, Inglewood Middle and Eastlake High, all great schools in the LWSD. They are actually considered better than the Issaquah schools but it's debatable. It's at the other end of the plateau in Sammamish, 2+ miles from Issaquah and Klahanie, closer to Redmond.

I think "better" is splitting hairs but the reality is that you will be fine in any schools in the Sammamish Plateau area. Some are Lake Washington and some are Issaquah School District.

Here's a good tool for reviewing at least some of the statistics on various schools.

Washington State Report Card

You can also use this one...but the data is a bit older.

How do Washington schools compare? | Fraser Institute

I think the harder part will be finding a house to buy or rent in these areas. A friend of mine just sold her house. She had 30 offers the first day, 12 with letters on why they should get the house and the offer they accepted was $30,000 over asking. This is up $75,000 from what her neighbor with a similar house got in January 2012.

Yes, I agree. An agent here in IH just sold a house in the Dahlia neighborhood over $15k the asking price, but more meaningful is that it's the highest price seen in 6 years. When we first looked at moving here in late 2011 there were still a large number of short sale and foreclosures but that has dwindled considerably and many homes are now selling above listing price. The ones that aren't are those listed at insanely crazy high prices. I can't believe how quickly it's been turning around up here.

We rented this house in Klahanie sight unseen. We sent an agent to do a walk through for us and rented it 2 months before we got here. There is zero rental home inventory in Klahanie and very few in the IH. House whether bering sold or rented are being snatched up very fast around here.

You cannot go wrong living in either place. We love it up here on the Plateau!

Just a side note about Klahanie, not all of it goes to Challenger Elem. School. The lower half goes to one out of this plan.

Yes, Pine Lake Area. Now building more new homes in that area starting at $700,000, very few, if any rentals.

On Redfin you can now click on a school and then get it to show you the attendance/catchment area.

We're in Klahanie near Yellow Lake and the Lakeside pool, and our kids go to Endeavour, Beaver Lake and then Skyline.

We much prefer it to IH ... bigger lots, more mature landscaping and just a more open, less crowded feel to it. Plus tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, a fishing lake, quiet streets and trails. A great community feel to the place too.

IH will be improved by the new retail developments and cinema, but it's only a 6 min drive away from Klahanie.
