Moving to Seattle from Utah (rental, neighborhoods, bus)

My partner and I are going to be moving from Utah to Seattle. We would love more information from others, here's our basic info:

30 year olds, lesbian couple
self employed
trying to conceive this year, moving after

We will be intending on paying no more than $2000 in rent to get started. 2 bedroom minimum, no pets.
We are looking for a nice area to settle in close to downtown. We will have car(s), but prefer public transportation.

We'd like a community that might have a larger gay community. (Actually that's our biggest concern.) Are there any areas you'd recommend?

I'm not too familiar with Seattle Neighborhoods (I'm from outside the city) But You may want to look into Capital hill area! Most of the Seattle area is pretty tolerant to same sex couples as we do have the second highest percentage of homosexual, just dont wander TOO far from the city. Would you prefer to bus around or take the light rail? The Lightrail is located south end of the city into the downtown core but does not run north.

The gay community in Seattle is centered in Capitol Hill. I don't think you'd have any problem finding a rental there for $2K or less.

There will be a couple stations on Capitol Hill within 5 years. The tunnel under the hill is underway.
