Madrona sounds like an unusual neighborhood. I take it you're in the high-end part, the side of the hill that has a view of the lake? That could explain the wine gifts, etc. That doesn't happen in north Seattle anywhere. And btw, wait staff and store staff are nice because they're paid to be. Still, it sounds like you scored some good neighbors. Looking fwd to reading more of your writing.
Madrona is great. I'm definitly not in the high end hood. But we are on a great street. We are on 32nd Ave.

The wait staff and enployees I have dealt with have been great. There is a difference between someone taking an order and participating in conversation and continually talking. I should also say I have talked to the general public too. I tend to be an extrovert and talk to people quite a bit. I really should have a bark collar on. Maybe I'd settle down a bit. I do see how the freeze could be benificial tho. I could so tune certain people out. But then again I could just blame that on my nitchy Orange County attitude.

Anyhow, I LOVE IT HERE!!!

Nitchy? I thought that word started with a 'b".
Anyway, welcome!

Yay! We've just moved down too, in Kirkland right now and loving it here! I was expecting it to be boring but it's so nice and vibrant. After California, everything feels so fresh and green and clean-scrubbed, and even the rain the last few days is not bothering me too much. I really feel like this can be home, whereas when we moved from Vancouver to Bay Area, it's never quite felt like that to us. And no freeze here either, everyone is nice and smiley and says hi. Go Seattle!

Madrona is a cool neighborhood. You are right about Seattle drivers, Seattle drivers do suck badly. The Seattle freeze is mostly a myth just like the myth about Seattle raining all the time. I will say that Seattle people do seem to be more friendly during the summer.

We just moved last year from West LA to Auburn and planning to move to Bellevue this summer. I agree with you people in WA are generally nicer, friendlier. People will talk to me when I'm in the check out line. I dropped something when I was at Pike's Place and some young man ran to pick it up for me. People are friendly, tho i don't know how easy it is to make real friends (still haven't made any). Welcome and hope you continue to enjoy Seattle!

Total autocorrect in play here. I did meant to use a "B". I also I usually take out the "O" in county when I say Orange County!

Seattlefun, as someone who is planning a move to Seattle, I DO like reading your posts. You always have a positive attitude, and observe some of the same things I might.

BTW- as you know, there is a big difference in a server "getting paid" to be friendly, and someone who is genuinely friendly. I am SO glad to hear of your positive interactions with people. That's what I am used to in my area of the world (Orange Beach, AL / Pensacola, FL) It would be the one BIG thing I would miss if Seattle residents were UN friendly.

Keep you posts coming. I love to hear of peoples experiences once they move there!
