You're joking, thatguy. You are hanging out with the wrong peeps. I know a lot of hardcore ice climbers, backwoods skiers, rock climbers.

Seriously, my boyfriends were back packers, rock climbers, and mariners.

u wot m8?

Although I didn't read the entire thread, I suspect OP is looking for what she calls "manly rugged" guys that resemble Don Draper, more so than the unshaven Seattle hipster in flannels walking in the woods.

I lived in Seattle for fourteen years and moved back to the Great Lakes region five years ago. Lots of great-paying jobs in Seattle, but be prepared for a 60-75+ minute commute and bumper-to-bumper traffic all day long; also, the high pay doesn't help much when it comes to paying the bills; all my friends from Seattle always tell me how outrageously expensive it is these days. I also don't recommend moving to Seattle for the dating scene. I'm sure dating is hard in a lot of places, but it's definitely hard in Seattle. I have a friend who lived in Seattle for seven years and struggled in the dating scene. She moved back to the midwest, and she was married within 18 months. Recently I met a guy here in the midwest who also left Seattle recently, and we both talked about how everyone is married here in the midwest while it's super common to not be married in Seattle. Also, the Seattle freeze is real, not just in dating but also friendships. I lived there for seven years before I developed a good circle of friends. In hindsight, I probably should have left after 3-4 years because 7 years was way too long to develop good friends.

Don Draper? I had to look him up. He looks like Ward Cleaver. That's your idea of "manly and rugged"? That's hilarious! But just on the off chance that you might be right (muffled laugh), it would be good to hear from the OP again. I think she's thinking of lumberjack stereotype, rather than Ward Cleaver, but it would be interesting to find out.

Washington has a fair number of hiking groups and clubs. If you're looking for somebody who is at least fit, that's probably one way to go.
